Thanks Luphia!

Luphia of Luphia Loves… tagged me a few weeks ago. I’m a horrible person and have not completed this. Sorry girlie!

Here goes:

What are you wearing now? Skinny jeans, pink top and my fav. matiko boots over my jeans.

How often do you blog? Lately, not so much. This will change.

Who was the last person you hugged? My neighbor who came over for dinner.

Which item from your closet are you wearing most lately? My love quotes scarf. I love it!

What’s for dinner? I don’t know the main course, but hopefully some asparagus. For someone who used to hate this veggie, I sure eat it a lot now. I’m making up for lost time!

What’s the last thing you bought? Domino Decor book. The Lil Bee inspired my purchase!

What are you listening to right now? Itunes. Tom Petty, of course!

If you could have any super power, what would it be? I’d be a genie and grant myself a million wishes. I’d go from there.

What is your favorite weather and why? I like to be comfortable, and being comfortable for me is 84 degrees.

What time do you usually get up? Depends on the day, and depends on what time my grandma gets up. If she gets up during the night, I’m up during the night.

What is your most challenging goal right now? Getting things in order. All I need is a chance, I have the skills needed. All I need is a chance, would that be considered a challenge? If so, that’s my goal!

Say something about the person who tagged you? She has an amazing blog, and is a wonderful person. I was on cloud nine when she decided to add me to her blog roll!

If you could have a house- totally paid for, fully furnished-anywhere in the world, where would you want it to be? I would want to live near my mom, she’s my bff. I’d also want to make sure I live near Laura, Lindsay, Kim and Melina. They’re the best girls I know…and I miss them :( As far as location, how does San Diego sound? Oh and if any small market news stations happen to check out my blog, I’d love to live anywhere I can find a job :)

Adam Levine’s Pad Craiglisted

For a measly $10,000 a month you could rent Maroon 5 lead singer,  Adam Levine’s Hollywood Hills home. According to TMZ he has posted ads on craiglist in hopes of someone renting his humble 2,000 sq ft. abode. I’m going to get right on that, as long as he’s my roommate!

Trina Turk Home

If you haven’t had a chance to head over to Apartment Therapy, today would be a great day to do so. I fell in love with the decor of this living room, before I even had a chance to look at the headline entailing that Trina Turk, who happens to be one of my favorite designers, will be designing home decor. She is a genius when it comes to color, I cannot wait to see her entire line! On top of that, it appears as though it will be affordable, which is an even greater plus in these poor economic times.

Help, I need somebody

I haven’t gotten very far because I haven’t decided what I am going to do with the walls. Should I leave them white? I originally thought about a light blue or grey with crown moulding, but now that I have decided on my lamp…I am unsure which direction to head? I bought this garbage can about 4 years ago at an Antique fair in Sacramento a few years ago, because I absolutely LOVED it. Yes, I fell in love with a garbage can ;) I don’t really think the lamp and garbage can “go.” I am officially confused. As you can see, Lucy is very upset about my indecisiveness and does not feel like getting off the bed until I make a decision. No…I have not decided on bedding either. Btw…I have ALWAYS loved Pottery Barn’s black frames with white matting…does that “go” with my lamp, can, and bed? Boohoo. I need Thom Filicia to “Dress My Nest!”

I hadn't mentioned that the floor in my bedroom is stained concrete. There's my prized garbage can! ;)

My trusty "new" lamp, minus the shade.

As you can tell, Lucy is very upset that nothing has been accomplished. Notice my photo on the wall, and the ricola's on my side table. ;)

I love… lamp. I love lamp.

Yes, I said I wasn’t looking to create a bedroom which looked like an antique store or museum, but I fell in love with this lamp, and best of all…it was only $40 at a local antique store. This is the lamp shade that came with it, but I don’t particularly care for it. What do you think? Do you have any ideas for a better lamp shade or where I can find one? Now that I have chosen this lamp, what color do you think I should go with my walls, bedspread, etc? I also don’t want to be stuck with a bedroom that is entirely PINK! I want 40′s glam…right, Callie! :)

Day 2

This first photo is from a website that I must have found about a year ago. I hate not knowing whose image it is…if you happen to know, please do tell, as I’d like to give credit, where credit is due.

guide_blueThis is my absolute favorite photo of all time!!!

Photos of Olivia Palermo’s NYC apartment have been floating around lately, and it’s no lie…I ONLY watch The City, to drool over her cousin J/K! No I really love her apartment. I love the elephant in the photo, my brother actually has one that he inherited from my grandparents that’s quite similar, but he refuses to let me have it. I’ll just have to keep checking dear old etsy!

Interior Inspirations Day 1

I have been in love with Ivanka Trump’s jewelry store since the first day I saw photos of it. Chic To Be (who has a gorgeous blog) showcased these photos a few months ago. Isn’t this place beautiful?! Stay tuned the rest of the week, as I have more inspiring interiors to follow!

picture1-1

I remember falling in love with a similar material that these curtains were made of, but it was a chaise lounge cushion. If you posted it, please let me know where I can find them…as I have been looking everywhere for the link!

Help Me Redecorate My Room! Please :)

I’ve decided to redecorate my bedroom, but this time I’m actually following through. I spent the last few days searching different styles and deciding what I do and do not like….and scaring the heck out of myself with feng shui and Chinese New Year superstitions…sorry family! Come to find out, I don’t like much! I’m not really into modern, I love traditional (but not the entire room), shabby chic is NOT my thing, I like a bit of glamour,  I really want a Barcelona chair, crown-moulding, I’m torn between painting my room grey, white, or blue, pink accents or purple accents, what type of table lamp to buy, how to hide the cords to my printer, computer, television, my precious paper shredder, and last but not least for my wallpaper to finally come down!!!!

I have a few posts this week from different things I’ve found, and I’m hoping you, my blog buddies will help me out, since you never let me down!

Wallpaper before I got a hold of it——

img_7642

As you can see- I started taking down my childhood wallpaper. I didn’t pick this, it was never my style. As a child I wanted posters with Joey from NKOTB, or Dylan McKay, but I was never permitted seeing as my mother didn’t want holes in her precious wallpaper. If I am going to be Lemont and live at home like he did on Sanford & Son, I want to be in a space I actually like! ;) For those of you who have not seen my bed from the 1800′s that I bought at an antique fair a few months ago…here is my headboard:

img_7644

Btw…I still haven’t bought new bed linens. I’m still looking for the perfect AFFORDABLE duvet cover or quilt, comforter…what have you. Suggestions, gladly taken :)

I decided not to refinish my vintage parlor, but instead have started using this vintage dresser my mom and I found at an antique fair in Sacramento, a few years ago. I’m not sure if I’m going to keep my “stuff” on the vintage mirror that I’ve been using as a tray.

img_7641

Oh and here’s my Christmas present from my mama! It’s actually made of an old window and has a mirror (which obviously I need to clean!)

Feng Shui

With the weather on the rainy side here in California…there’s nothing I’d rather do than relax at home. Well, that is until I had a look at my bedroom. My intention was to clean earlier in the week, so I could post pictures of my bed, and dresser because I still haven’t done anything to my bedroom and need your interior design expertise. I decided I’d have a look at feng shui videos on you tube, to gain a better idea on bringing positive energy into my space, and possibly into my life.

My question is this…do you believe in it? I just watched a video where the woman states if your home is facing the north, you shouldn’t have a red door because that is a yan color, and yin is north. Well, I happen to love our bright pink/fuschia colored door…could that be bringing negative energy our way? Please give me your opinion, I’d love to hear it.

Here’s a video on the top ten tips of feng shui, in case you’re like me and energy, karma, yin, yan have taken over your life! lol

New!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Here are a few photos that I posted over the weekend. I’m thrilled as I was chosen for another treasury. I can’t believe I’ve been open about 3 weeks, and have been in 5 treasuries…I truly feel blessed!!! I am thinking I may add my scarves to my shop, but haven’t decided. I’ll let you decide! =)

Home Decor For 2009

2008 may have just concluded less than a week ago, but Interior designers are predicting big changes in 2009 in terms of home decor. See if you agree……

MISMATCHED CHAIRS

Due to the poor economy, people are tending to entertain at home. Since consumers aren’t in the market to just up and buy a new dining room set or chairs, we won’t see  as much  “matchy-matchy.”
bbf0fd3fce104018935557a2ead0cb51

The Color GRAY

For us blog readers, we’ve noticed that rooms have been heading in more neutral tones for some time. This year, different shades of gray are going to be everywhere. Experts are warning that this color is going to take a huge dive, just as the recent “chocolate brown/robins egg blue” combo did. Do you think it’s going to burn off or is gray here to stay?
4bfc79ba3b5f42e089365d2a5b05f3a0

RETRO APPLIANCES

My mom will be happy about this one, seeing as she recently purchased her vintage stove. While it may not be in working condition, many people are heading the same route and purchasing retro appliances from the 1940s- the 1980s (which doesn’t seem so retro to me.)
6457803bdf4141f3aa415a425c726587

THE NEW GARAGE DOOR

This year fancy garage doors with wrought iron, hinges, and latches are making a statement.

CORAL

Not as in Nate Berkus favorite accessory, but as in the actual color. In years past “you’d see the color paired with teal, but in 2009 it’ll be matched with plums and grays.”

STUDIED ECLECTIC

Carmen Natscchke of “The Decorating Diva” is seeing multicultural decor taking center stage. What used to be taboo, is ringing steady in the New Year. She states your best bet when combining decor from different cultures is “a balanced look.”

I couldn’t just post one……

If you were here earlier tonight, you noticed I posted Cannon Rose, well…I was going through my pictures when I noticed that this one just had “post me tonight” all over it!

This photo was taken in my backyard over the summer. If you’ve followed my blog since I was on blogger, you might remember that I mentioned my neighbor, Carl who passed away over the summer. I remember I went exploring around the yard the day after he passed away, trying to make myself relax. This photo was one of the ones I took, and to this day 4 months later, it still puts me at ease just looking at how beautiful, and how fortunate I am to live where I do.

Photo showcased in lowest resolution rather than post it with a watermark. Photo will print at highest resolution.

Cannon Rose!

How amazing, I created a shop last night, and I have already sold my first print!!! I am so thrilled about this, that I decided to post a new print, Cannon Rose. I absolutely love the uniqueness of this photo. The roses of course are my mom’s, but the vintage metal pitcher was my neighbor, Mrs. Cannon’s. This has been passed down from generation to generation in her family, and she gave it to my mom over the summer. I originally took this photo to show my neighbor how beautiful it is as a vase, but thought you all deserved to see it as well! I love this photo, and hope you do too! I was also pleasantly surprised to be contacted by a fellow etsy seller today, who told me that I should start creating calendars. I’m so new to this but I am up for any challenge! With her help, I’m hoping to have my original banner (up until a few weeks ago) as a print. We shall see. In the meantime, thank you all for your support, and encouragement. This really couldn’t have been done without you.

By the way, if you’d prefer a 4×6 print, just let me know and I can list that for you! Info is in my etsy shop.

Merry Christmas & Happy 100

Merry Christmas!!!!!!

I hope you all have the merriest of Christmases, and while I know I will see you before the new year, for those of you who won’t be in the blogging world between now and then, Happy New Year! Today marks my 100th WordPress post ( those of you who’ve followed me from my blogger days, know it is much more than that.) I don’t have a giveaway set up, and won’t until I set up shop…which will hopefully be soon. Thank you for being the best blogging community one could ever ask for.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers during this trying time. I apologize for not having the time to visit everyone’s blog lately, and personally thanking you….I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I will today. My family and I really appreciate it. She has an appointment today, so hopefully everything will go well…so we can have Christmas at home.

Happy Thoughts Day 5

UPDATE 12/22/08: I think I spoke too soon. Please continue your prayers, as she is still in a great deal of pain today. I hope everything will be okay…….

Thank you for your prayers!

UPDATE: Grandma is coming home! The doctors are hoping it isn’t what they initially thought…so if the pain doesn’t come back, that part of her is okay. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you for all your thoughts and prayers all weekend, I don’t think you could ever begin to know how much I appreciate them. I could never have fathomed all I have gained from this blog of mine.

Wednesday she has another appointment for something totally different. Please continue to keep us in your prayers. MUCH LOVE & GRATITUDE!

I am sorry for not posting anything yesterday…as I haven’t had many happy thoughts my way. My happy thought for today is hope, strength, faith and love.

I hope that my grandmother will be okay and won’t pass away. My mom is in the er with her because yours truly was too afraid to go. I am praying for strength, hope, faith and love in dealing with this matter. Much love to all of you, and if you believe in prayers could you please do us a favor and keep us all in them.

Home For Christmas

We started decorating the weekend prior to Thanksgiving, but only finished decorating both trees last night. This is the first time since my parents split up that my mom has gone all out for Christmas, for that was the day our entire lives changed. Things may be different, for instance our antique tractor we used to have on the lawn strung with rotating lights on the tires, and santa waving to the passerbys had to be sold, but new traditions have been started, such as the vintage Christmas tree in the front window.

This past weekend one of my dear friends, my mom and I went to the Paris Flea Market which was held directly outside Fleuri’s boutique in Sacramento. It was a great time and we managed to get some great buys. My mom sells her bouquets in the shop. Lucky her….she made money just being there!
